Work Experience
At Stokesley School, we recognise that gaining experience in the world of work is an essential part of preparing students for life beyond the classroom. Our Year 12 Work Experience Week gives students the opportunity to explore potential career paths, develop practical skills, and gain a deeper understanding of professional environments.
This experience is designed to help students build confidence, improve communication and teamwork, and develop a sense of responsibility and independence. Whether they are shadowing professionals, contributing to tasks, or observing how organisations operate, students begin to understand what employers value and how they can make a positive impression.
Work experience also plays an important role in supporting university applications and future employment. It provides valuable content for UCAS personal statements and job interviews, helping students to demonstrate their motivation, commitment, and suitability for their chosen path. For many, it is a chance to clarify their interests and begin building a network of contacts in their field.
We encourage all students to approach the week with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. It is a meaningful experience that not only enhances their academic journey but also equips them with the skills and mindset needed for success in higher education and the workplace.
